This
is a day to put our philosophy about adult-youth partnerships
into action! All adults are asked to write a letter on this day
to a young person in their lives, encouraging them. Letters are
so meaningful to all of us, and especially to young people who
don’t get much positive mail. A heartfelt expression of the importance
of a young person in our lives can have a huge effect!
Absolutely
Incredible Kid Day (or AIKD for short) was invented by Camp Fire,
but extends beyond the Camp Fire community. Many important celebrities
have participated.
Write
to your own kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, a kid down the
street, or even a child you don’t know. Letter writing is a tangible
way to let kids know how important they are. A letter is something
they can hold on to and keep for years to come. Since 1997, more
than 300 million people have heard about Absolutely Incredible
Kid Day. If every one of those people wrote a letter, every child
in American would hear those important words of encouragement.
