CLUBS

Clubs for each level of children and teens are the basis for engaging activities in Camp Fire.
Youth have an opportunity to try new things and experience a taste of arts, camping, crafts, business, community service and more. If a club or child enjoys that first sample, they may choose to pursue more in-depth projects and aim for higher awards and honors.

Camp Fire clubs are always forming. It just takes a few motivated kids and adults to make it happen! Since clubs are co-ed, families with similarly-aged boys and girls can work together on activities. Camp Fire’s exhaustively researched activity books are filled with age-appropriate games and projects. Children take important leadership roles in choosing the club’s path, and are rewarded with emblems they can display on their uniforms. In Central Ohio, children can also take their talents to the next level, entering their creations in the state fair!

Call the Camp Fire office at 614-481-8227 to find out if there is an existing club near you, or to receive volunteer training and activity books in order to start your own club.

Camp Fire USA club programs have four important qualities:
·Progression
·Variety
·Partnership between youth and adults
·Rewards and recognition

Each program-level name symbolizes expanding opportunities, choices and leadership:

Starflight: Kindergarten through second grades
Adventure: Third through fifth grades
Discovery: Sixth through eighth grades
Horizon: Ninth through twelth grades

Wohelo Award:
Camp Fire USA's Highest Honor

Each year, approximately 200 Camp Fire USA's youth members attain the honor of the Wohelo Award. This award is earned by a dedicated few who complete four "Reflections" that demonstrate a commitment to Camp Fire USA and advocate for improved social conditions.

There are many ways a youth member can earn the Wohelo Award. He or she chooses a topic of interest and develops projects and advocates based on that topic. Advocacy actions that a Wohelo Award recipient must achieve are to lead, teach, serve and speak out.

Wohelo Award recipients are among the most dedicated and hardest working of the Camp Fire USA membership. This award has stood for high achievement since its inception in 1962. At that time it was called the Wohelo Medallion.
